If you think the Remaster Trilogy Crysis has recently been an indication that we are heading for the Crysis 4 announcement, it turns out you are right with money. Crytek today confirmed that Crysis 4 was under development, almost ten years after the last match in the series was originally launched. The game was revealed today with a short teaser trailer, although it’s not surprising, the details are still short at this initial stage.
Unfortunately, there is no recording of gameplay that can be found in this first teaser trailer, and we might not see any time to come. In today’s blog posts, Crytek reveals that Crysis 4 is only in early development, so the first display on gameplay is likely to remotely.
Still, we might be able to start cleaning old jokes about requiring supercomputers to run Crysis, because after almost 10 years of hiatus for this series, it might be safe to assume that Crytek will run out with this installment. The title trailer Teaser YouTube reveals that Crysis 4 is just a title that functions for the game, but given the series naming convention so far, we will not be surprised to see that it becomes the actual title later on.
“For everyone in our extraordinary Crysis community, and for all franchise fans around the world: we have a special announcement to make, only for you,” Crytek wrote in his post today. “This is something you have asked us for a long time, so finally it’s time to confirm – Yes, the new Crysis game is happening!”
Blog posts continue by saying that Crytek will release more details about the game as a continuing development. It also convinced hunting: showdown players that “big things” are planned for “this year and so on,” so it seems that the development of Crysis 4 will not foil the ongoing road map to hunt: Content showdown. Crytek even made a call for developers to join the team and helped in the development of Crysis 4, which seemed to be a trend lately.
The last time the Crysis series saw the right new release was in 2013 with the release of Crysis 3. We went throughout the Xbox One / Playstation 4 generation without a new Crysis game, even though Crytek did the original trilogy remaster and released the games on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
There is no talk about the potential release date at all in posting the current announcement, and given that Crytek said this game was in early development, we might not expect any news of the release date for some time. We will tell you when Crytek shares more, so stay here.
